Abstract

In-plane resistivity and thermopower for separated pairs of CuO 2 planes in (Pb 2Cu)Sr 2Dy x Ce n−x Cu 2O 2 n+6 : n=3, 5 have been studied. After optimization of the film growth conditions, the hole density estimated from thermopower is within the range for the occurrence of superconductivity in layered cuprates. However, resistivity shows weak localization behavior reflecting the low dimensionality of the electronic system. The electrical conduction within a CuO 2 plane does not deteriorate with the increase of the distance between a pair of CuO 2 planes from o.87 nm ( n=3) to 1.41 nm ( n=5).
