Abstract

Decoupling schemes for the efficient calculation of collision integrals for open-shell atoms when fine structure effects cannot be neglected are developed. Test computations of collision integrals, diffusion coefficients and interaction viscosities as a function of temperature are presented for the representative cases of ground-state oxygen and fluorine atoms interacting with rare gases, exploiting recent accurate information on these interactions.
