Abstract
The swelling and transport behaviour of cation-exchange membranes (Nafion 417, Nafion 423 and KESD) in aqueous and methanolic solutions were investigated. Sodium chloride and sulfuric acid were used as electrolytes. The results are interpreted on the basis of irreversible thermodynamics.
