Abstract

The mechanisms of electrical conduction in polymeric composites with electrically conducting fillers are examined on thebasis of effective medium, fluctuation tunnelling, and percolation models. The properties of the conducting fillers — metals, graphite, and technical carbon — are analysed. Factors influencing the electrical conductivity of the composites, in particularthe methods of preparation of the filler and of the material, are discussed. The prospects for the utilisation of composites ofthis type are indicated. The bibliography includes 62 references.
