Abstract

This paper describes the efforts undertaken by two Brazilian Institutions involved with the Tansport of radioactive material (Nuclear Energy Commission and Institute for Environment and Renewable Resource) to make a single process by which both the IAEA's requirements for safe control and environmental Protection can coexist. The paper includes evaluation of international practices as well as the assistance from a consultation among experts around the world. A single set of terms of reference with requirements from different regulations and the profile for a memorandum of understanding between authorities are among the results and identified future actions.
