Abstract

Transport and distribution of coal will form a crucial factor in the world energy supply in the coming 15 years, not only because of the over-proportionate increase in the demand for coal, but also because of the growing amount that will have to be transported over longer distances to the consumers. A better infrastructure, improved means of transport, and new techniques will be needed, affecting rail, truck, conveyor systems, pipeline and water transport. Centrally located distribution and storage areas will be necessary to regulate the streams of coal.
