Abstract

Viscosities, η, of aliphatic amino acids glycine, l-alanine, and l-valine and hydroxyl amino acids l-serine and l-threonine in (0.0, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6) mol·kg−1 aqueous trilithium citrate solutions at temperatures T=(288.15, 298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K have been measured as a function of molality of amino acids. The Jones–Dole equation and transition state treatment have been used to obtain viscosity B-coefficient and viscosity interaction parameter, respectively. Enthalpy of viscous flow and entropy of viscous flow for amino acids in aqueous trilithium citrate solutions have also been calculated. The results have been discussed to interpret interactions between ions of amino acids and trilithium citrate.
