Abstract

ABSTRACT A plant sensing system has been developed for detecting and rejecting undersize tobacco transplants. Fiber optic bundles were used to illuminate transplants and receive reflected near-infrared and visible red light. A computer-based sensing system was developed that resulted in 95% successful classiflcation based on a leaf area threshold of 15 cin2.
