Abstract

Spraying solutions of zinc chloride or cadmium iodide with activator onto preheated Pyrex or silica glass yields cathodoluminescent films by direct reaction with the glass. The activated silicate films have excellent adherence, good transparency, and, on silica, a brightness comparable to that of evaporated films on Vycor. Films on silica require refiring in air.
