Abstract
Transnational feminist networks (TFNs) are organizational forms that transcend geographical, political, and cultural boundaries to advance a gender justice and development agenda. TFNs form collective identities for survival, especially in the face of competing goals such as solidarity and diversity, movement building, and financial sustainability. Informed by feminist organizing theories, this study uses thematic analysis to explore how one TFN discursively creates an online organizational identity. Three themes emerged: (a) diversity as identity-building strategy; (b) transparency as collective identity management; and (c) identity creation through co-construction. Combined, these strategic discourses allow the navigation of opposing organizational requirements of collectivity for global movements building and differentiation for organizational and financial sustainability.
