Abstract

A mathematical formulation is presented for the transmittance of the isotropic and non-isotropic components of diffuse solar radiation through a series of parallel partially transparent regions. The isotropic fraction is determined using a piecewise linear correlation in terms of the clearness index. The non-isotropic fraction is expressed as a shape factor. Results for transmittance through glass plates for several orientations are graphed. (SPH)
