Abstract
An approach is presented to super-resolution imaging of point sources using active arrays of transmit/receive elements. The usual techniques of high resolution imaging using passive receive arrays often fail for coherent point sources. Data obtained from transmit/receive arrays may be arranged to form observation matrices to which eigenspace direction of arrival estimation may be successfully applied, even in the presence of coherent sources. This approach provides great flexibility, which derives from the variety of arrangements available for the observation matrix, and it provides insight into the design of the array. >
