Abstract

An electronic monitoring system was used to record, on indicator plants, the feeding behavior of individual green peach aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), that had been reared on excised leaflets of potato plants known to be infected with potato leaf roll virus. Transmission of the PLRV to the indicator plants, Physalis pubescens (L.), was proportional to the amount of salivation–ingestion recorded, 4% infected after 1 min of such activity to 74% at 15 min.
