Abstract
La France disease is a major limiting factor in the production of the cultivated mushroom Agaricus bisporus (Lange) Imbach. Shortly thereafter, it was demonstrated that the causal agent could be transmitted to healthy mushroom crops via diseased mycelium (8, 20) and basidiospores (18, 20). Basidiospores are now considered the primary source of infection in the epidemiology of the disease, because of their typically high concentrations encountered at commercial mushroom farms.
