Abstract

The transmission of slow molecules through thin foils is considered via the recombination model. The angular and lateral spread of constituents of the molecule are calculated from small-angle multiple scattering theory. The results of calculations are compared with available experimental data on the transit of H 2 + molecules through thin carbon foils. The scaling properties of the transmission yield in terms of dwell times and internuclear separation are discussed.
