Abstract
COLICINOGENY has been transmitted to non-colicinogenic strains of Escherichia coli and Shigella1, Klebsiella, paracolons, Salmonella2 and Serratia3. Hamon2 tried unsuccessfully to pass this property to Proteus cultures. Providence strains (unpublished observations) are not bacteriocinogenic for genera of the family Enterobacteriaceae and are not susceptible to the various colicines.
