Abstract

The sound field obtained from the transmission of a spherical wave through a thin elastic plate has been calculated. The field is expressed in the form of an outgoing spherical wave with an amplitude factor containing angular dependence. For the case in which the ratio of the velocity of flexural waves in the plate to the velocity of sound in the outside medium is greater than unity, the amplitude factor exhibits a strong maximum for the angle at which trace matching takes place.
