Abstract

In this paper we present a transmission mode selection scheme in CoMP network combined with semi-smart antennas (SSA) for energy saving. Based on the cell zooming scheme, selected transmission nodes can be switched off or in the sleeping mode without reducing the cell coverage. We introduce the cell zooming into a cellular network combing CoMP with SSA for energy saving. Users should select a proper transmission mode from the traditional single cell transmission mode, the CoMP transmission mode, the single cell transmission with SSA, and the CoMP transmission with SSA. The problem of the optimization on the transmission mode selection for energy efficiency is defined and a sub-optimal solution is obtained by the generic algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed transmission mode selection scheme in CoMP network combined with semi-smart antennas can achieve the best network energy efficiency.
