Abstract

The reduction of 60-Hz electric fields caused by grounded objects present in proximity to a high voltage transmission line is discussed. Field reduction is determined using a specially defined shielding function which depends only on the object's geometry and on the distance from the object. Shielding functions have been developed for different types of objects (trees, rows of trees, box-like objects, vertical cylinders, fences, etc.).
