Abstract
A new class of transmission line balanced inductive plasmasources having discrete inductive zones is reviewed. The problems ofundesirable capacitive currents, azimuthal non-uniformity and the energyefficiency of inductive plasma sources are considered and basically solved.The main principles of operation, discharge performance and the mostinteresting experimental observations are discussed.
