Abstract

The transmission error and the gear noise of a three axes gear system are analyzed with the object of a transfer for recreational vehicles. It is proved that each one of measured transmission errors appearing in the pair of input and idler gears and the pair of output and idler gears also in a three axes gear system is able to be treated by an analytical method of a transmission error for a two axes gear pair. The transfer gear noise is estimable using the expression by two transmission errors for the total exciting force applied to three axes considering the force interference at the idler shaft, as the gear noise estimation index. The force interference at the idler shaft and its influence on the gear noise, on which the proposed index is based, are confirmed by experiments.
