Abstract

In this paper, the transmission delay in adaptive resource allocation strategies with uniform quality of service (QoS) provisioning is addressed. The accuracy of a mathematical analysis approach is corroborated by semi-analytical results. The analytical approach is based on the fact that in flexible resource allocation (FRA) strategies with uniform QoS provisioning all active sessions of each service type equally share their resources and tend to utilise an average bandwidth. The fact that the probability density function of the normalized transmission delay is almost a symmetrical function is also considered.
