Abstract

Three framed-ALOHA-based transmission control solutions and interval estimation method (IEM) are proposed for EPCglobal Class 1 Generation 2 ( EPC C1G2) RFID system. The presented transmission control solutions build on earlier work on dynamic framed-ALOHA protocol, but have been adapted to address characteristics of EPC C1G2 RFID system. The proposed IEM selects directly optimal frame size from a table without calculating out the concrete number of backlog which is used in conventional tag estimation method (TEM). The three proposed schemes by IEM are compared with those by conventional TEM using simulation. Based on the simulation results, it can be seen that the performance of optimal interval transmission control solution (OITCS) using IEM is better than that of OITCS using TEM and those of the other two solutions using IEM or TEM regardless of the number of tags.
