Abstract

In the fall of 1982 the weekly organ of the Soviet Writers' Union, the Literary Gazette, published a series of articles by various authors with the general title "Mayakovsky and Contemporary Poetry." This exchange is translated here in its entirety, together with an appended response from Soviet readers which also appeared in the Literary Gazette as part of the discussion.
