Abstract

Within the framework of a Wightman field theory of massless particles, translationally invariant generators Q of symmetry transformations defined as integrals over the time component of conserved local currents are considered. It is shown that Q is defined on massless asymptotic multiparticle states. It is additively determined by its action on one-particle states and commutes with the S matrix. If the asymptotic fields are scalar it is shown that Q is represented on one-particle states by a polynomial in the derivatives.
