Abstract

Transketolase activities (TKA) were measured in human lymphocytes, granulocytes and erythrocytes by a NADH-dependent method. Lymphocyte and granulocyte TKA were 125 and 152 times greater, respectively, than erythrocyte. Xylulose-5-phosphate, at a final concentration of 3.6 mmol/L, was needed for optimal lymphocyte and granulocyte TKA, but had no apparent effect on erythrocyte TKA.
