Abstract

In the face of climate change, the depletion of natural resources and the threat to the environment, the green economy is becoming a necessary step towards sustainable development. In turn, organic agriculture is a food production system based on the principles of environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation and animal welfare. In Russia, interest in organic agriculture is increasing. The purpose of the study is to analyze the system being formed and identify the prospects for the development of organic agriculture in Russia, as an important area of the “green economy”. This study identifies the main features of the “green” economy at the present stage, highlights the key areas for the development of the “green economy” in agriculture, analyzes the emerging system of organic agriculture in Russia as a driver for the development of the green economy. The place of domestic organic agriculture in the global system of its development is determined. The main constraining factors are outlined and key areas for stimulating the development of organic agriculture in Russia are identified. It is concluded that the green economy in agriculture is an approach to production that takes into account environmental, social and economic aspects. Which is aimed at creating a sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly production system, restoring soil fertility, ensuring food security, conserving natural resources and improving the quality of life of the population.
