Abstract

The Transition State Treatment of Nuclear Fragmentation has been used to study a number of aspects of the break-up of heavy ions during medium-energy reactions. This manuscript presents a review of the transition state method and a summary of results. In particular, the post- and pre-transition effects are investigated, and the break-up volume—a parameter used by other models—is studied.
