Abstract

Theoretical transition probabilities for 2s 22p 43s−2s 22p 43p and 2s 22p 43p−2s 22p 43d transitions in Ne II have been obtained by using the “exact” intermediate coupling wave function. The angular part of the wave function is obtained be means of a least squares fit of energy levels. Some effective operators are included and the interaction between the 2p 43p and 2p 5 configurations is also taken into account. It is assumed that the radial part of the dipole matrix element for these configurations can be given by the Coulomb approximation to high accuracy.
