Abstract

In the Lancet Child & Adolescent Health Commission on paediatric pain, Christopher Eccleston and colleagues1 proposed a timely and much-needed call for transformative action in the field of paediatric pain research and treatment. They outline a far-reaching and strategic path forward for the field, clearly organised under four goals to make pain matter, make pain understood, make pain visible, and make pain better. Research has shown that pain experiences in early life can have consequences that last into adulthood,2 and adolescents with chronic pain are highly likely to have unresolved pain and associated symptoms as adults.
