Abstract

Methyliridium(III) complexes of the type [IrXx(Me)3–xL](X = halogen; x= 0–2; L = PMe2Ph or AsMe2Ph) are described. The methyl resonance patterns in the nuclear magnetic resonance spectra are very useful in assigning stereochemistries. Some dipole moments are given and discussed. Values of (1) methyl deformation frequencies (δMe) for the iridium-bonded methyls, (2) iridium–carbon stretching frequencies, and (3) iridium–chlorine stretching frequencies are given and discussed.
