Abstract

A series of transition metal disubstituted ternary heteropolyoxometallates, [TBA] 4H 3[PW 3Mo 7M 2O 38(H 2O) 2]·2H 2O (M = Co 2+, Ni 2+ and Cu 2+) [TBA] 4H[PW 3Mo 7 M 2O 38(H 2O) 2] · 2H 2O (M = Cr 3+, Fe 3+) and [TBA] 4H 2[PW 3Mo 6V 3O 40] · 2H 2O, have been synthesized by reaction of Na 9PW 3Mo 6O 34 · 10H 2O and the corresponding results of the transition metal in water, and recrystallized in a mixed acetone/water solvent. They were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra and electronic spectra. The crystal structure of [TBA] 4H 3[PW 3Mo 7Cu 2O 38(H 2O) 2] · 2H 2O has been determined. The magnetic susceptibility data indicate that [TBA] 4H[PW 3Mo 7Fe 2O 38(H 2O) 2]· 2H 2O has weak ferro-magnetic properties. Copyright © 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
