Abstract

Mass migration: Allenyl sulfides undergo 1,4-migration of the phenylsulfanyl group when catalyzed by a transition-metal complex to give furan derivatives (see scheme). Evidence suggests that the reaction proceeds via a metal carbene intermediate, which is trapped intramolecularly by a carbonyl group. A one-pot sequential catalytic transformation of α-diazocarbonyl compounds to furan derivatives is also developed.
