Abstract
AbstractThe relationships between tourism, transport and Malta's approach to EU membership are examined. There is a strong relationship between tourism and transport and it is evident that tourism would benefit from stricter EU regulations in the transport and environment sector to ensure improved service and overall improved tourism product. There are, however, conflicts in the direction the government is taking in the promotion of both tourism and the development of a national transport policy, aimed at reducing private car use and encouraging the use of extensive public transport services.
