Abstract

The short-time transient response in an elastic semi-infinite plate for nonmixed stress boundary conditions at its end is investigated. The expansions of the end unknowns are constructed in order to complete the boundary conditions. The equations of motion are solved by a double transform technique. The wavefront behavior is derived with the method of steepest descent. The main structure of the wavefronts and the amplitude variation are discussed and compared with experimental results.
