Abstract

In this paper, transient thermal stresses of two near-edge defects due to a moving heat source are analyzed by the digital photoelastic technique. By using a statistical-analysis package, the variation of the maximum transient thermal stresses is correlated with the time, temperature difference, and geometrical parameters of the defects.
