Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of present work is to investigate the effect of seismic excitation on thermal characteristics of a liquid pool and the submerged heater experimentally. The effect of amplitude and natural frequency of liquid on heater’s thermal performance and thermal stratification of liquid have been investigated. Results emphasize that the pool excitation influences the single-phase convection and subcooled boiling Heat Transfer Coefficient (HTC) significantly. The experimental data generated in the present study would be useful for the CFD model development. Sloshing driven heat transfer mechanism leads to significantly different temperature profile in the pool.
