Abstract

In general, pitch angle controller employed to maintain the aerodynamic power at rated value when the wind speed exceeds the rated speed. Besides this, by controlling the rotor speed it can improves the transient stability of the wind energy system (WES). In this paper, fuzzy logic based pitch angle controller which is work in speed control mode is proposed to improve the transient stability performance of the WES. The control methodology of the pitch angle controller used input as a speed change. The pitch angle reference is generated by the proposed controller which can compensate the non-linear characteristics of the pitch angle to the network disturbances. The results obtained with proposed controller has compared with conventional PI controller. The proposed fuzzy logic based pitch angle controller outperforms the conventional PI controller.
