Abstract

The marine currents turbine (MCT) and offshore wind farm (OWF) has been generating substantial amount of power for the commercial as well as the proto type investigation boards in the world. Both marine current farms and off-shore wind farms have the lot of similarities like ambient surround the plant, analysis and construction. Kind of Marine current power and offshore wind farm is recognized as a continuous available farm of renewable resources which can be used for sustainable generation of electricity. Moreover, the marine current farm has the highest density of water rather the air density which is limitation over the offshore wind farm. On the other hand, the integration of offshore wind farm and marine current farm, has develop huge percentage of negative impact on the entire system which is closely affect to the stability and monitoring system of the main grid. This paper presents a control scheme using STATCOM joint with the Proportional—Integral—Differentiate (PID) controller for the damping enhancement of hybrid system. A time domain approach based on a non—linear system model subjected to a three phase fault at Point of Common Coupling (PCC) has been utilized to scrutinize the effectiveness of the presented hybrid system. Simulation result shows the damping enhancement of the studied system with several disturbances.
