Abstract
The velocity of the piston rod in the reciprocating pump is sinusoidal with time, so as to provide a theoretical basis for the design of the piston seal in the reciprocating high water-based pump, a transient numerical model of Glyd-ring is proposed based on the theory of soft elastic flow by considering the variation of the rod velocity. The transient friction and leakage characteristics of the Glyd-ring, and the film squeeze effect are obtained by finite element and finite volume method, and their effects from the sealing pressure and rod velocity are discussed. Finally, the reciprocating seal test is set up to verify the reliability of the proposed model and results.
