Abstract

Performance analysis of production systems in steady state, which have quality inspection machines, has been studied widely in the past few decades. However, when production systems having quality problem run under a certain of number of raw parts, systems are mainly operating in transient and methods which solve the issue of product quality in steady state are not applicable. Thus, transient analysis for such systems plays an important role in the processes of finite production run. In this paper, we focus on Bernoulli serial lines in finite production runs that have two types of machines, i.e., Bernoulli machines with product quality problem and Bernoulli quality inspection machines. Under this framework, a Markov chain model for two-machine system is presented to evaluate the transient performance measures.
