Abstract
The kinetics of the runaway nucleation (Nishioka and Maksimov, J. Crystal Growth, 163 (1996) 1) is studied. The asymptotically exact self-similar description of the transient nucleation kinetics is compared with the results of direct numerical solution of the kinetic equation. The analytical estimates are found to be in good agreement with the numerical data.
