Abstract

Transient frequency modulation absorption spectroscopy has been applied to transition metal containing molecules generated in a laser ablation/chemical reaction supersonic expansion. The (0, 0) A″ 1 Σ + – X 1 Σ + band system of PtC ( ν=12 643 cm −1) and the (1,0) C 3 Δ 1 – X 3 Δ sub-band system of TiS ( ν=12 065 cm −1) were recorded in single pass through the expanding gas 4 cm from the source.
