Abstract

An 88-year-old man who underwent gastrostomy was admitted for aspiration pneumonia. The patient used glucocorticoid and immunosuppressants for rheumatoid arthritis and interstitial lung disease. Two days after the gastrostomy tube replacement, the patient experienced abdominal pain and vomiting. His vital signs were stable, and only mild epigastric tenderness was noted. Blood tests revealed a white blood cell count of 9700 /μL, elevated C-reactive protein of 3.85 mg/dL, aspartate aminotransferase of 40 U/L, and alanine aminotransferase levels of 28 U/L.
