Abstract

The transient and asymptotic solution of the Maxwell equations for a system of two bidimensional particles of opposite charges is studied. Initially the particles are at rest at the same point, then one remains motionless while the other drifts at constant velocity. Electric and magnetic fields are initially zero and we study the formation of both electrostatic and electromagnetic clouds. Our results suggest an algorithm for the initialization of computer simulations in relativistic, fully electromagnetic systems.
