Abstract

Benefiting from excellent thermal stability and overcurrent capability, no-insulation (NI) magnets have promising application prospects in high-field environments. But the existence of radial current complicates the transient analysis and design of the NI magnet. In this article, a 2-D improved method was introduced into the transient analysis of NI magnet. We discussed the electromagnetic and mechanical response during the charging process at different working statuses. The result confirmed that 2-D method could greatly simplify the modeling process and reduce the number of meshes, enhancing the convergence of the calculation process and speeding up the analysis process.
