Abstract

Transient currents in conditions of continuous injection in thin insulating layers with a spatially non-homogeneous trap distribution have been calculated for the following three cases: (1) weak injection, slow trapping; (2) weak injection, fast trapping, step-like profile of the trapped charge; (3) strong injection, slow trapping. The influence of spatial non-homogeneity of the trap distribution on transient currents has been illustrated and the resulting formulae have been analysed with respect to their utility for determination of the spatial trap distribution on the basis of electrical measurements.
