Abstract

This paper proposes a transient voltage and current detection scheme for a typical hybrid HVDC circuit breaker, and evaluates its characteristics. Due to the energy transfer characteristics of hybrid HVDC circuit breakers, the voltage and current transient parameters of each circuit are closely related to the reliability and safe operation of the circuit breaker. The transient characteristics of voltage and current of each branch also directly reflect the working status and operating conditions of the circuit breaker. This study first established a hybrid DC circuit breaker topology model based on the working principle of the traditional hybrid DC circuit breaker. And selecting the characteristic parameters that can reflect the working status of the DC circuit breaker in the transient process, the measurement method and diagnosis method for the characteristic parameters are formulated, and the status assessment of the transient process of the DC circuit breaker is performed through simulation. The research results have certain guiding significance for the on-line monitoring and status assessment of a 500kV true hybrid DC circuit breaker.
