Abstract

We discuss a new type of monostable potential profiles for which the phenomenon of transient bimodality occurs in dynamic systems. It is shown that transient bimodality occurs if the potential profile describing the dynamic system has a linear part. A new method for calculating the lifetime of the transient bimodality is proposed. We show that the lifetime of transient bimodality for the considered potential profiles increases in proportion to the fluctuation intensity.
