Abstract

Upcycling plastics enables the design of value-added materials, a distinct alternative to landfilling. A recently published article in <i>Nature Communications</i> (McNeil et al.) reports a sustainable metamorphosis of crosslinked sodium polyacrylate, the superabsorbent material in diapers, into adhesives. Life cycle analyses of the several operationally simple transformations emphasize environmental consciousness.
